Born 27 August 1950 in Tempe, AZ
Raised in Arizona living in various places and going to high school in Holbrook, Mesa and graduating from Patagonia High School.
After two years at Mesa Community College, lived and worked in various places including Germany and Kuwait and the states Michigan, Indiana, Utah, New Jersey, California, Texas, Kansas, Alabama, and Washington.
Served in the U.S. Army starting in 1974 rising to the rank of Sergeant, After two years in the National Guard and completing ROTC returned to the army as an officer in 1981 eventually rising to the rank of Major.
Returned to Arizona in 1992 beginning a career in education, teaching for six years at Patagonia High School and ten years at Holbrook High School. Taught World History, U.S. History, Arizona History, Government, and Economics. Retired in 2012.
Received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Anthropology from Brigham Young University and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Utah State University. Military education includes the Air Force Defense Officer Basic Course, the Ordnance Officer Advance Course, the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Army Combined Services and Staff School. Served as the Commander of the 30th Ordnance Company and the 504th Maintenance Detachment.
Coached basketball and track and field at Patagonia High School and basketball at Holbrook Junior High School. Coached soccer and baseball in youth leagues in Germany, Show Low and Holbrook.
Father of 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
